Keeping up with our new Motion Systems Engineer. Go, Sean!

Sean Visperas

We love growing our team! Today, we’re putting the spotlight on Sean Visperas who joins us as a Motion Systems Engineer for Northern California. Sean has an interesting and diverse background, including precision machinery, semiconductor, and medical testing companies in manufacturing, engineering, and quality capacities.

Physics is an awesome field of study. How did you land on it?

I originally wanted to study biomedical engineering and develop technology for prosthetic limbs. I wasn’t sure transferable the field of study was so I decided to search for mechanical engineering programs. Long story short, I was recruited to play football for a small school, Pacific University, but the closest program they offered was Physics. I tried it out and loved it!

Can you share a couple of career highlights?

  • At Intel, I coordinated efforts with customers, suppliers, and internal engineers to improve and maintain equipment maintenance, including pneumatic pressure vessels and manifolds, high-volume liquid pumps, flowmeters, and sensors.
  • I was a manufacturing engineer at Ebara Technologies where I managed support to our field service sites, provided customers with technical support, and collaborated with the QA team on process improvements.
  • While at Cepheid, I ensured that the products met customer and federal requirements using process mapping and risk assessment.

What excites you about Steven Engineering?

I appreciate that the company supports such a wide range of industries. For motion application in mechatronics, SEI has wide outreach to a diverse portfolio of industries from semiconductor, medical, automotive, agriculture, packaging, and the list goes on! So I’m excited to help with a variety of applications, possibly including biomedical.

What can we find you doing on the weekends?

I enjoy outdoor activities; basketball, running, hikes, whitewater rafting, and recently I tried archery! I also enjoy spending time with my wife, Riki, and our two dogs, Jax and Daisy.

Appreciate your time, Sean. Welcome to the family!
