Plugs and Receptacles

AC power plugs and sockets (receptacles) are devices that enable electrically operated equipment to be connected to the primary AC power supply in a building. Electrical plugs and sockets differ in voltage and current rating, shape, size, and type of connectors. A plug is the male component of the connection and the socket or receptacle is the female component.
